Privacy Policy

The short version: LOCAL does not collect your personal information. No account is required, and your music library never leaves your device.

What stays on your device

Your music library, imported audio files, artwork, playlists, listening statistics, app preferences and optional supporter card are stored only on your device.

They are not uploaded anywhere, and deleting the app removes them. No account, sign-in or personal information is required to use LOCAL.

Lyrics lookups

Lyrics lookup is optional and can be turned off at any time in Settings.

When it is enabled and you are online, LOCAL sends the current song's title, artist, album and duration to the public lyrics catalogue LRCLIB (lrclib.net) in order to request synchronised lyrics.

No name, email address, account identifier or advertising identifier is sent. Returned lyrics are cached on your device so they can be displayed offline.

As with any request made over the internet, LRCLIB will receive your device's IP address as part of that connection. LOCAL does not store it, and LRCLIB's handling of that information is governed by their own terms.

Contributions and purchases

Optional one-time contributions are processed entirely by Apple. LOCAL never receives or stores your payment details.

LOCAL stores a record on your device of which verified contributions were made, so the app can show you your own supporter status. This record is not uploaded.

Public supporter recognition

Displaying a supporter nickname, message or badge publicly is optional and always requires your explicit opt-in.

In this version of LOCAL there is no public supporter service connected, so nothing is displayed publicly and nothing is shared. If a public service is added in a future version, this policy will be updated before it becomes active.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

LOCAL contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. It does not collect usage data, it does not build a profile of you, and it does not share information with anyone for advertising purposes.

Children

LOCAL is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

Turn off lyrics lookup in Settings to stop all network requests.
Decline to make any contribution — every feature remains available.
Delete the app to remove all data LOCAL has stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date.
